I am back with a Protound 1 answer instead of a question this time. I know it's old technology but my Protosound 1 locomotives run great and I see no need to replace them. I opened a tender I had for the first time to change out a battery, I notocided it had a ceramic resisitor on the yellow wire between the Protosound reverse board and the motor. It looks like it was installed at the factory. The resistor is for older MTH locomotives that have motors that spin too fast so this is only neccessary on those type of motors. You can tell if the motor needs one of these if you spin the flywheel by hand and if moves freely without much resistance. As long as you are not moving the Protosound unit to another locomotive you need this resistor.
