As mentioned in previous postings, my "Berwyn" train station has a digital trolleybell sound which, while clear, is kind of quiet. In the past, I've used Sony amplified speakers, but even those are getting drowned out at busy and noisy train shows, so I've decided to up the ante with this unholy cross between a Marshall mini guitar amp and the Gi-raffe Junction station!
Here's the two before the unholy pairing:
After dismantling the amp, I drilled holes in the back wall of the station and installed the control board:
Here's an interior shot, showing the cut-down speaker cabinet and the electronics. The battery was moved from inside the cabinet to the floor of the station, using the 9v battery bracket formerly in the BERWYN?! station...
The rig was hooked up, and works fine! Nice and loud!
WARNING: Do NOT crank up to 11!
Now bring on that noisy ol' train show! :D

Better get some tie downs for that roof! Or better yet some elastic so it bounces like the lid on a teakettle!

Trains, trains, wonderful trains. The more you get, the more you toot!
I'll tell ya, it does startle people! I gave a demo at the Sugar Creek MRR Club meeting last night.
Without the amp: ~ding ding ding~
With the amp: **CLANG CLANG CLANG!!!**
Actually got a couple people to jump back in their seats an inch or three... (evil grin)
I'd have paid to see that!
Ditto!
