Tom, I'm thinking of making my own as well, after checking around. The price on these is rather high, but supply and demand dictates. I did manage to locate some new ones, but the cost is so high that I think I'll make the effort. Thank you for your dowel suggestion. I'm also looking at another idea some one else provided. If it works I'll share it here.

I checked eBay and those are for the HO Tie-Jector cars, but thanks for replying.

I can understand why you might want the "real deal" .  However, I operate my tie jector with a dowel inserted in a hole in the layout top.  After a little fiddling I found the right placement  and height and I just pull up the dowel to the right height to trip the lever when I want the car to operate, and push it down when not in use.  It works fine and, when painted, it is barely noticeable.  Best of all, you can put any number of these trips all over the layout

The grandkids love to operate this car and if they break the dowel, it is an easy fix.

Hi All...Does anyone know where I can get the mechanical trip that pushes the side lever on one of these cars. There is no electrical wire hook up for these, it is a slanted piece of metal that clips to the track so that when the car comes around it pushes on the lever and releases a track tie. I think I can make something that will emulate it but I would rather have the real deal.
