Just completed a new track layout and tested a 1950 Union Pacific 2023 and Dummy. After a couple of laps, a short developed. When searching the track, I located the attached part shorting an outside rail to center rail. I removed it and placed the 2023 units back on the track and they ran just fine. I don't know where this part came from and do not recognize it. Can you identify it as a part from a 2023?
The overall length of the part is 19/32", the diameter of the body is 5/32", the shoulder length is 3/32" and the shoulder diameter is 3/32".

From what it looks like, it appears to be a plunger from your coupler assembly part # tc-113. I have a Kline repair manual, and the part looks the same. Check the couplers and see if one may be missing the part.
Thank you very much, Teldoc. You were right on the money. Now all I have to do is find the plunger spring. Probably buried in the nap of the rug on the floor.
