Even running conventional is a lot of fun, that's what I do. Can't see the point of TMCC or DCS on a 4 X 8 layout.
Just sitting there with a cuppa coffee and watching then go 'round. It's soothing. Can't tell you why but I think others feel the same.
For anywhere-uncoupling, see this thread: http://cs.trains.com/ctt/f/95/t/227483.aspx

If wheelset2 could get to somewhere they have tmcc or legacy set up and see things like you can uncouple the engine anywhere on the track not just certain areas think he would be impressed
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne

When we bought this house there already was a addition on the house that we call the den. Well wife wanted her TV down there but after first summer and about 1//2 the winter that was all it wrote as it had no heat or A/C bought her a window unit but it had to come out every night as we were not safe or felt safe with it in there at night. So she decided she wanted the TV in the living room me no problem well I decided I would take over the den after bouncing which room between 2 bedrooms a couple of times because where the entry door is and we use that door as main door I ended up with 8' x 16' for layout but have a ceiling shelf layout of 14' x 16' so I ended up with 228 sq. ft. train room with 128 sq. ft. train layout Works for me.
But back to our original topic yes he needs to get a train set and go from there as it will grow on him especially if he can get a set that has rail sounds
Lady Firestorms solution to my "O" gauge problem was to buy me a 140 square foot shed which is now the "Chugger Barn." "There!" she said, "now get that (stuff) out of the house!"
OK, so it's out of the house. Now at least several times a week the "Chugger Barn" rocks with the noise of trains and me cackling like a fiend!
Like I say " You never know, until you go O "
Wheelset2 - I think that Lionel SantaFe B40-8 is callin' your name. Actually would be neat to see a yellow bonnet fleet on Sunday Photo Fun.
Jump on in brother, the water's fine.
I believe we should. As Firelock stated, a simple under-the-bed layout is easy to construct. Due to space limitations here in Japan, that's what I constructed. It measures 42" x 74" and has a couple of sidings.
Joe
What do you think folks, should we get behind this poor unsuspecting soul and give him gentle push into the abyss?
Also a oval of O-27 takes less room then an oval of HO
Wellllllll, not to put any ideas in your head but there's always room for a 3X6 rollaway under the bed....
Firelock76 , You are right about getting hooked .I wished I had the room for this.It seems O gauge has a certain magnetism
Santa Fe All The Way
Watch out brother, once you get hooked on the thundering majesty of "O" gauge there's no going back!
I mean, will an HO layout in full cry shake the house to it's foundations? I don't think so!
And as I said on the other Forum, Razor Hobbies has to be complimented on their business ethics and professionalism in helping this poor woman dispose of her husbands collection. It probably would have been all too easy to take advantage of the situation.
Sounds like a place that's well worth the hobbyists business.
firelock76 Someone will need a u-haul truck to carry this home . Some of the collection are priced dirt cheap. I model ho scale but after seeing this ,I am thinking maybe I could tear a few walls out,
I just saw your posting on the "Classic Trains" forumand advised you to move it here, but you beat me to it!
Thanks for posting!
Was at my local hobby shop in Baytown, TX and stumbled upon a gold mine. The guys at Razor Hobbies www.razorhobbies.com came across a lady whose husband died and they are helping her sell off his collection. WOW, WOW, WOW, you would have to see it to believe it. Here are some of the pictures.
