The trucks are proper for the early production cars. The coil for the couplers are wired to the sliding shoe, one coil per shoe. The sliding shoe, plate and rivet are available for replacement, part #'s TC-109, TT-208 and TT210 available here. Here is the service manual page for the wiring for the lights in your cars.

Hi everyone, I recently purchased a Lionel Post War Set of the 2421, 2422 and 2423 Passenger cars. I have several questions concerning these cars. First, the cars have staple style coil couplers with roller pick up trucks. Are these the correct trucks for these cars? Secondly, the coil couplers seem to be wired to the trucks some how. The wiring is bad and the wiring insulation is coming off the wire. I need to replace the wiring, where is the wire for the couplers supposed to attach to the trucks for the couplers? I know where the wire goes in the back of the coupler but not on the truck. There are pick up shoes also on the trucks and on some of the trucks these shoes are missing, I assume I need to replace the shoes, can I get the shoes separately or do I need to get the whole truck assembly? Do I need the shoes at all? I took one of the cars apart and made a wiring diagram based on what I saw, is there a wiring diagram for these cars that I can get so I can make sure I have them wired correctly. By the way these trucks are the NTCL-1 Truck assembly. Thanks for your assistance.
