Lionel FastTrack O36 Remote Left-Hand Switch
Posted by stwax on Friday, January 10, 2014 7:58 PM

Hi everyone. Forgive me if this is not posted in the right section. I'm looking for repair help. Bought a new Left Hand switch today and it worked great for 15 minutes. However, the switch no longer switches between straight and alternate routes. The remote lights up but only as red and will not switch lights or change track when I pull the lever in either direction. Bulb on remote as well as track work. The lever just no longer switches from the alternate path (red). Before I return this, is there something simple I may be missing like a reset, a short, etc.? I don't see anything in the manual that addresses this issue.

There is a fix for this, for an out-of-warranty repair, involving the bellcrank/microswitch adjustment.  Once you open it up, though, they will not honor the warranty.  Best action is to exchange it.

When a new Lionel product doesn't work, run to the dealer with receipt in hand and ask for a new one.  Don't settle for a repair or re-manufacture.

Don't even think about repairing it yourself unless out of warranty as Rob says.
