The Legacy Instruction manual covers how to ADD the Legacy CAB2 and BASE2 to an existing TMMC layout. It is available for download from Lionel.

You won't have to readdress your SC2s and Engines, but you will need to Add their assignments to the CAB2, I know of no way to transfer this data from the TMCC system to Legacy, although that may be possible and would most likely be covered in the LIM.

It will work but to get the most out of Legacy there is a module, one for steam engines and one for diesel engines, to put into the Cab 2 that will make TMCC better enhanced for running on the layout.

Lionel Legacy Question
Posted by overall on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 7:58 AM

Right now I have a Lionel TMCC with these peripherals;

  • CAB-1
  • 400 watt track power controller
  • Block power controllers
  • SC-2 switch controllers
  • TMCC command base

Here is my question, if I go to a Legacy controller; will all the other peripherals work with it?

Will I have to re-program everything or will I just be able to use the the controller right out of the box?

Can I just press ENG 40 and that engine respond like it always has or do I have to re-address it?

Thanks in advance.
