I read somewhere that 80% of the conductivity problems concerning locomotives and lighted cars are due to dirty center rail pickup rollers.   I'm not sure I would do anything to reduce the conductivity on the center rail, but then again I don't know if bluing would be harmful.

I have never tried this, but I have heard over the years that gun bluing will darken a middle rail. You might test that on a few sections to see how gun bluing would effect the conductivity between the engine rollers and the middle rail.

Atlas O Nickel Silver Track

I have been buying several lots of used Atlas O Nickel Silver Track. My question is can the top of the middle blacken rail be re-blacken or darkened in anyway. Any suggestions or ideas would be awesome.
