Lionel 2-6-6-6 Allegheny

I have the Joshua Lionel Cowen Series Chesapeake & Ohio 2-6-6-6 Allegheny locomotive and tender. The track I am going to use is Atlas O nickel silver track. My question is which curve radius is the best and most realistic. I know it needs a minimum of O-72 radius curve track. But, would 80-99 radius be better or is that just overkill. I don't have tons of extra room and not looking to waste space just for the sake of it. Any suggestions or idea would bee awesome.

I use Atlas track and O72 is the absolute minimum to go with for that engine! However anything over that will reduce the amount of 'over swing' on the cow prod and cab. I have the 'shorter' articulated version and I can guarantee the 'over swing' is pretty impressive! Smile I also have a WM Challenger and it too has some rather large 'over swing' (minimum O36 curves on that one and I have min O45 and O54 on my layout - and it is still a bit much for my liking - next layout will be O81, O90, and O99 for the mainlines, with O72 being the minimum radius I will use.

My recommendation - go with the widest radius curves you can handle... you will not regret it.

I have to agree go with the biggest radius you can manage. I have 054 for a 4006 big boy and it just manages to get by with that most  of the time.

Thanks everyone,  the radius I think I will go with is either the 90 radius or the 99 radius of the Atlas O nickel silver 3 rail track.
