Who has the Best Train collection Software?

jeff, interesting question, I asked the same basic question, see it under "trains inventory" by stangme. I did however recieve a e-mail from a guy in this forum, who has the following system. Best of all, this one is insurance company (s) approved. as you know if your collection exceeds 12,00.00 normal home-owners insurance will cover to that amount. down load a free sample, see what you think. I just keep a description of each item and its history in a .txt file.

I am a Sr. Programmer Analyst Contracting for the government right now.

I do a lot of custom software design.

If 4 or 5 of you guys wanted to give me details on what a Train Inventory software needs to have, and were interested I could create one, could even be web based, would include pictures and even 3D model pictures of the trains.

Just a thought, I am always looking for new projects.

I use a Microsoft Access database. I started with an excel spreadsheet about 15 years ago but quickly converted to Access to utilize the relational databases. I continually improve it. It currently maintains my collection inventory, maintenance history on each piece, collection cost and value. It can generate all kinds of sorts like by roadname, type or event list my command control items. I also monitor the expenditures for my layout in it.

Access allows me the flexibility to do just about anything I want with it. I have not yet figured a way to download current values yet.
