TMCC compared to Legacy
Posted by RRaddict on Thursday, October 31, 2013 3:03 PM

I am wondering if the first generation of TMCC command systems can control Legacy locomotives. I want to get Legacy equipped locomotives but I don't want to buy a new system. Any advice?

Yes you can run legacy with TMCC, you just can't activate all the features.

The most noticeable difference is speed control. Legacy has more speed steps which gives you  smoother operation.

Legacy engines can be controlled by TMCC but you cannot activate any of the advanced features. Legacy can fully control you're TMCC engines. If you are planning to purchase new Legacy engines I would recommend putting a Legacy command system on your holiday wish list. If all you care about is the basic sounds like horn and bell then stick with TMCC.
