Yes you can use them. Before todays switches came with a motor already attached these were used in all scales. Just follow the wiring diagram and there are different things you can do with them. The only factory that made those motors burnt to the ground so they are no longer made. They were sold under several brand names.

Yesterday I got a collection of HO stuff from people I know. The owner had passed away and neither son had interest in the trains. In it was 7 Tenshodo switch machines in the package. The son told me the trains had been put away for decades but the packages look absolutely perfect like they just came off of a hobby shop shelf. Can I use them on O scale switches? What about wiring?
