Hey, not only did I get an answer, but my question was featured on the trains.com web page! Williams is sending me another smoke unit, gratis, so I'll play around with it and see how it goes. Thanks!

Depends on how the smoke unit works. If it workes like the ones in LGB it will have a small pipe in the middle of the smoke-stack which can be jammed. It takes a tiny metal wire to get it clean inside.
If it's like the ones in Lionel try if the fan works. Normally there is a switch somewhere to switch the smoke off. Of course you checked that one too..

My Williams Berkshire which I bought this May has decided to quit smoking. Admirable in humans, but not in toy trains. I've only used the reccomended and highly toxic Williams smoke fluid. I've drained the fluid and tried refilling it with varying amounts, but alI get are a few feeble whiffs of smoke, then nothing.
Is there anything I can do besides send it back to Williams?
