This past Christmas and Winter, I received and collected a full Lionel passenger train with a 248, two 529s, and a 530 passenger car.
Since the 529/530 and 629/630 passenger cars use the same body, I decided to renumber the cars and paint the full set red, cream, and black. Considering the cars are only worth $10 to $15 each, I didn't really feel bad about it. And now, here it is all restored and shiny!
I know lighting was never included in these, but again, they're pretty cheap, so I didn't feel bad about making a tiny modification to each frame to fit a scratch-built pickup roller, and the center brace in the body already had a hole for mounting a light in other passenger cars sharing this part, so I couldn't resist lighting the whole set.
I'll take a picture with the lights on once it's dark enough to get a good shot.
These really are the tiniest passenger cars made by Lionel! Just to give even more perspective on its size, here it is with my 254/710/710/712 passenger set from a couple years ago.
Oh yeah, the motor and wheels are all in excellent shape for their age, and with only a light cleaning, this thing's a great runner! I'll put up a video later.

I am very impressed with the quality of the work you did on this train.
Congratulations on a great restoration job.

Beautiful!
Being a native Noo Yawka I especially appreciate the Park Avenue Pantographs - which are the right size to reach the under-running third rail (on the tunnel roof) of the Grand Central Puzzle Palace, where there are vast gaps in the normal (under-running outside) third rail. Those things always confused the Pennsy fans.
Very nice job - thanks for posting the pictures!

Nice job!
Thanks a lot everyone! Here's a couple more shots with the lights off...or um...on...or, wait...
No reverse unit or neutral setting in the 248, so I had to stall it to get the shot. Even though these cars never included lighting, I think it adds a little something to them. I have a tendency to like things that light up.
thse turned out fantastic!
