I am trying to change the headlamp of a Lionel F-3 diesel from 1996 (6-18130). The directions say to carefully pull the lamp out, but it is very small, hard to grip, and very tight. Does anyone know an easy way to do this? Is there a special tool?
This sounds a lot like some bulbs I had to change in some Lionel passenger cars. Does it resemble a Christmas tree light bulb with a plastic base? If so, look for a seam at the base of the bulb where the bulb mates with the socket. You may be able to slide a thin knife blade into the seam and lever the bulb out. That's what I did.
