Thanks for the suggestion to give it a "Reset". I should have thought of that. It has been cured of the runaway problem.
The slow operation in conventional mode is fixed also, but I don't know if the reset fixed that or the fact that while working on it, I noticed the track voltage was only 13 volts. Normal being 17. I must have brushed against the ZW control handle some time in the past. It is hidden from view.
The 5v regulator is not the problem. You more then likely need a DCDS motor board or the motor encoder.

I have been running this engine in conventional mode for the past year or so. Recently it started running extremely slow, and I thought I could setup the maximum speed by running it in TMCC mode. I plugged in the Command Base. Followed the instructions on pg 24 of the manual. Address the engine (ENG 1), press SET on the CAB1 and observe the flashing lights, run engine up to a moderate speed, press BOOST, and it acknowledges with a toot. Seems like it worked. But when I run it, it just races away, ignoring the speed limit I thought I just set up.
If I unplug the Command Base and run in conventional, it is back to running very slow.
Any ideas?
