A couple of other "commuter" train shots.
The Budd Car manufactured by Marx was lettered for the Boston & Maine.
The B & M had the largest RDC fleet in the nation.
K-Line upgraded the Marx tooling and made Budd Car sets in (5) road names.
For the B & O a set in traditional silver was made, but so was a set in royal blue with gold lettering.
The other road names offered by K-Line were Amtrak, Western Pacific, and the Reading.
The Reading set (2 were created) were Boscov's exclusives.
Nice work James,
Great shots as always guys. I have nothing to add this week. Been kind of up to other stuff.

Here are some pictures I took today of a Hafner 110 that I got running for my friend Rick:
He bought it as a non-runner, it wouldn't wind up. I pulled the mainspring, expecting to find it broken on the hub end. Instead, I found the diecast hub had broken into two pieces. The catch for the spring was just freewheeling around:
So, I machined the parts for the new hub this afternoon, shown with the original gear, catch & shaft that I was able to reuse:
All in all, a fun little Sunday afternoon project! The little clockwork Hafner runs great, looks nice circling the layout. I'm gonna have to "Test Run" it a few more days before I give it back to Rick.

My N5c project caboose, this was the better of 2 shells:
Found out this is a Marx Erie gondola, missing the ends. Just added trucks from MTH:
This shell is in poor shape. I'll be repainting it black and tuscan with Pennsy road name and numbers:
That's all so far. More to come as time allows, naturally...
Great job, ALL of you. Got to take some of the inside of the Box as it has progressed a little. Lowe's wants me to do it and email the photos to them. They want to send them to corporate. All the materials for the ceiling, flooring, paints, fasteners and layout bench work came from my local Lowe's.

Some "commuter" trains of the recent past.
A typical LIRR diesel train circa 1990's (this type of equipment lasted through the fall of 1999).
Through '99 the year round Friday only Cannonball, and some of the summer time Thursday and Fridays extra trains featured Palor Cars, with 2-1 seating.
While the Reading Company did not operate single RDC cars as a rule, they were common on the Pennsylvania-Reading Seahore Lines.
If you rode the New York & Long Branch in the early 1970's, on a Penn central train, they were often led by battered surplus Geeps, and F units. The coaches were often ancient P-70's.
Still leaning how to use the new camera so the quality of these pictures varies.
The coaches were my original 2561-63 that were damaged by battery acid. Pitting and staining was unremovable, so I painted them to look like something Illinois Central might once have had in service

And then, a renovated Lionel 2026. When acquired, one of the front drivers was missing; it looked like someone had wrenched it off with a pair of vice grips. The axle and splines were bent and damaged. The pilot and some drive rod linkage was absent. The boiler was heavily chipped. So I replaced the missing parts and touched up the paint according to the techniques suggested in a number of CTT articles. I'm satisfied with the result and I really cherish this fine running little locomotive.
Last picture shows several other trains as I experiment with basement lighting and photo composition.
The switches look great RT!
Here are a couple shots taken of recent small projects. Completed a couple of crossbucks and got them installed.
Also finished modifying a small MTH Telephone Shanty for the Maryville Yard.
Have a great weekend and if you get a chance visit my website Bo's Trains at http://www.bostrains.com I'm working on several different projects right now.
Here We have my befor pics of my switch cluster
And then after adding rust color to them. I think they look beter doing the center rail also as most cases theres so many rails on switches it just makes the center rail blend in better
