Bulbs & bulb sockets for lighting within Plasticville buildings

Are you sure about the 25 watt rating?  That sounds more like an appliance sized light bulb than a hobby or model building size bulb.

If the bulbs are, for lack of a better term, "flashlight" sized bulbs you can try a "Radio Shack"  store if there's one in your area.  They should have bulbs in the 14 to 24 volt small size, although I would think your "Plasticville"  buildings took their power from a transformer, in which case 14 to 18 volt size bulbs would be appropriate.

You might check out the light/bulb supplies from Town & Country Hobbies towncountryhobbies.com. You may be able to find bulbs/LEDs that use less power and generate less heat.

Twenty-five watts, especially in a low-voltage incandescent lamp, is huge.

I am not sure where to get what you are asking for. I use these LED in mine. No heat problem and they use way less voltage.

I have just recently started on building a model train layout with the Lionel trains that I had as a kid.

The Plasticville houses that were scattered on my early days of model railroading had light bulbs set

under the buildings to illuminate them.  These bulbs were low voltage (25 watts) and were screwed into

small rectangular sockets. Are these bulbs/sockets still available and if so, where can I purchase them?
