CTT RECOMMENDED DREMEL TOOLS???

Need help with the tools shown on the last page of magazine about 1 yr or so ago. the page had about

20 or so tools show including a toolbox. The question is what issue month and year and what is the model # of the recommended Dremel saw. Thanks much for any help Chris

Hi, Chris --  I think you are referring to the 25 toolbox essentials column I included in our Nov 2012 issue. One of my favorite tools featured in that listing was the Dremel no. SM20-02 Saw-Max hand-held circular saw. Never imaged I would use this tool as much as I have on the layout and around my house!

Good grief Kent! That video makes me think you left the most important tool of all off the list, the one no one ever uses (hopefully), a fire extinguisher. I keep one of the B-C fire extinguishers (from the auto parts store) at my work bench. They are effective against fires involving paper, wood, textiles, plastics, cooking liquids, oil, gasoline, kerosene, paint, cleaning solvents, and fires in “live” electrical equipment.

Wayne, don't worry - we've got a fire sprinkler system and plenty of hand held extinguishers around! I'm always worried about the haze from testing modern smoke units setting the darned system off!

What would you use to cut fast track?

80+ tooth blade if using a Compound Mitre Saw or, a very fine tooth blade on a band saw that is set to cut at it slowest speed. The key is to CUT the plastic, not MELT it.
