With a closer inspection I found that one of the two leads from the coil that connect to the same post was broken loose from the solder.  I had to use my magnifiying light to see it.  Everything is good to go now.

Thanks for you help.

It sounds like the reversing slide is not making good contact with the contact plate, or there is a broken connection to one field winding.

#60 Lionel Trolley only goes one direction
Posted by pianotuner on Monday, January 28, 2013 5:53 PM

I just purchased a #60 Lionel Trolley (blue letters).  It arrived today and it only goes one direction.  When you bump the bumper to make it change directions it just stops.  Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
