Lionel Boy Scout Train set. Is this a good deal?
Posted by SotaPop on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 10:56 AM

A dad from my son's Boy Scout troop just bought one of these Lionel Boy Scout Train sets for just under $140 delivered to his door.

Is this a good deal?

One thing about trains: It doesn't matter where they’re going. What matters is deciding to get on.

Sounds fair to me if it is a set you want, For set 6-30161 Charles Ro has them priced at $264.95 and List from Lionel is $349.99

A good deal IF you want one...a waste of $140. if you don't. I personally don't care for "themed" trains.

Definitely a good deal.  I'm a recent eagle scout and received the set a few years back (100th anniversary edition with the paintings on the boxcar, not the generic one they're selling now).  For $140, it's not a bad set.

Based on what I see on ebay that's a very good deal. Ebay sellers offering the Boy Scout set on a "buy it now" basis are asking $250.00 and up.

I just checked that website again ... they're now Sold Out.

Plenty of them on ebay! If it weren't for ebay I probably wouldn't have developed an interest in O gauge trains. No, I'm not a seller.
