I want to cut tunnel portals out of 1 inch dim lumber. I cant get sabre saw to cut nicely in the corners--want about 3/4 radius. ANy clues?

You may want to get a narrow, fine tooth, scrolling blade.  It worked for me.  Good luck.

Drill the corners, then cut the straight lines

Is a scrolling blade narrower than the stanard blade which is approx 1/4 or 5/16 from cutting side to back of blade?   Does this make it easier to keep cut on the line?

You could use a properly sized hole saw for the corners, jigsaw for the straight portions.
