Marx clockwork steam locomotives

Hi, I bought a Marx 591 0-4-0 wind up loco
at an antique shop for $5.00. It run like new
all it needed was a good cleaning and a new
key. It has no side rods and I can't find any
Pics online that show one with them nor can I
see any place ob the rear wheels where the
side rods might have been attached. There is
front motor mount ob the engine that has slots
for side rods to go into. So is my loco missing
its side rods or did Marx manufacture it without
them?
