If you are trying to use "forced perspective", yes. Just make sure that you don't have any O scale buildings in such a position nearby that they would destroy the illusion of a distant town.

Using HO scale buildings on O scale layout.
Posted by NDanny on Saturday, January 5, 2013 12:39 PM

Hi. I just got a quick question about using HO scale buildings on my O gauge layout. I have a small area that is 12" high and it's about a 12"w by 14" long area that is elevated. Would it look good to use HO buildings and some cars to give a illusion that it sits higher and distant from the main line? I read someplace that some people do indeed use HO buildings on their O layouts. Thanks.
