If there is a clicking noise, your E-unit is good but something is wrong where it is getting power. Try cleaning your pickup and the track, if that doesn't help look for loose wires inside the engine, then move onto the e-unit. You should be able to get the problem fixed before that though.

Hey everybody,
I have my Grandpa's old Marx 999 that he had as a kid. I got it running by replacing the brushes a couple weeks ago, but now it won't move. It just sits their and buzzes. If it does move, it will only move a couple feet then stop. And it makes a clicking sound. Would this have to do with the contact with the armature or is this E-unit troubles?
