I wonder how many members we have that live outside of the USA?

Does your question include Canada?

Classic toy trains have a different meaning in each country. In Germany, the country I live in, collectors/operators of Lionel, Marx, or AF trains are a very rare bird, as vintage Marklin, Fleischmann and Trix trains enjoy many aficionados.

I'm in Australia....

Old O gauge here in Australia is really English Hornby although there were three local brands, Robilt, Ferris and Maurlyn, produced in the 1940s and 1950s. Robilt and Maurlyn both produced the Victorian Railways streamlined S class 4-6-2 which was thus in some way the equivalent of the New York Central Hudson in the model railway world.

I remember seeing some Lionel on sale in the mid 1960s, particularly the N&W J class...

We never saw any American Flyer that I can recall.

Hi,

I'm currently stationed in Japan.  I cannot find any O gauge/scale items here.  Everything seems to be HO or N.  I know Sakai made O gauge items years ago but I have not seen anything.

I used to be stationed in Germany but wasn't back into toy trains at that time.  I wish I would have been.

Sayonara,

Joe
