TY Phillyreading... can only assume then that I connect with a CTC lockon to the track then?
Use a CTC or UTC O gauge track lock-on. Check the plate on the rear of the transformer to determine which terminals to attach the wires to. Look for "variable voltage" in the 18 - 20 volt range for trains. Be sure the rails, track pins, locomotive wheels and pick-up rollers are clean and free of rust. (If you need suggestions on cleaning them let us know.)

Hi, Highfargone,
If you are just getting back into it and runing post war trains , 1945 to 1969 do yourself a favor and go on line and order a Greenberg's Repair and operating manual for lionel trains. It is well worth the money and will give you most of the info you need for post war trains and all the way up to TMCC trains.

Okay RW and R transformers are a little different than most 1 st as Becky said you need to get a lock on to attach your wires to the track You should have 1 row of 3 wire connectors ( top row bottom row there is only 2 connectors) in the middle of the first row it is your U post and that connects to the outside rail. Then you want to connect to the first post and that goes to the middle track that will give you 12 - 18 volts variable by the controller on the front. wish you were close to one of us as most of us would be glad to come over and help you.
