Marx transformer
Posted by Diablobike on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 10:53 PM

I just got my Marx trains down for my Christmas display.  The 100 watt Marx transformer was working fine.  Now it doesn't shut off all the way which leaves enough power to the track to prevent reversing.  It will accelerate and decelerate but does not turn off.  I took the cover off.  There is an insulated pad that the contact touches to turn it off but it is still getting power.  Is it fixable or shot?

Thanks

Ted

Try cleaning the coil and pad where the contact touches. It may be making an electrical path onto the pad. Of course do this when it's unplugged.
