Here there is a modle railroad club all scales and they have meetings on thursdays ( which isn't great for me ) that will let visitors run there engines I guess with prior arrangement one could bring in a full serries to run.

I personally getting a little anxious to get started on my layout but feel like I'm probably at least a year away if not two. I do have the room about 90% ready but theres other things around the house that need attention now. But at least I'm getting closer.

LAZ.......with that much Ole Mil beer being hauled, you need a couple of military troop transport cars to provide security. Whistling

Now that's impressive.  I have collected OLD MILWAUKEE reefer cars and have a 24 or small case o beer.

  Should I go for a 30 pack?

You can always shoot for an "even" 75 LOL!

Seeing a unit train with all the same road numbers on each car would drive the scale HO guys crazy

If it were not for a lack of money I'd have a heck of a train collection ,I like pretty much every one I see and the ones I like most happen to be the most rare and expensive ones to buy. Why is that? Why I "need" to look at stuff I cant afford on ebay is beyond me!

Maybee at a local train show if a club has a big modular layout you could see it strech out & run. Post some photos if you getr a chance to do it.

I'd love to see my Dads old Lionel set run on something other than a 4'x4' x-mas tree loop, We have a place here in Allentown PA (Merchants Square Antiques Mall) with a large indoor display I just have not gotten up the nerve to ask if they would be willing to run a visiters train on their layout.

My layout is the wrong scale for your 'collection' but I would imagine it could fit a 55 foot X 35 foot basement layout no problem...Whistling

I have a 14' x 16 foot around the ceiling layout with O-42 curves so it would just fit on there with a engine or 2 and one small caboose .

It's good that you are talking about rolling stock.  Because if you are talking about candles on the birthday cake, it doesn't work that way! Big Smile

Or at least not in a manner that works to your favor.

I have figured out what is wrong with my brain!  On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!

I think 71 is enough, for now
Posted by Boyd on Friday, November 16, 2012 11:43 PM

A shrinking available paypal credit and other priorities forced me to stop aquiring red Lionel CN 9013 cars. I have 71 now. I was going to shoot for 100. I got the last 3 in the last 10 days. All but the last 3 have had their plastic pivot pins replaced with 3/4" #8 bolts and nylon locknuts. I've gotten pretty good at replacing them. Needle nose to remove plastic pin,,, which sometimes takes several tries to get them out. Install of nut & bolt:  long narrow nose vise grip on the nut from the underside and a large philips on the top side. Turn until all the way tight, then back it off about 1/2 to 5/8 of a turn and it is done. I have found that if it is only loose enough to let the truck rotate that the car can come off of the track if the track is uneven. So a little bit of wobble in the trucks is good. One that I got at a train show was damaged so I cut the end off of another one and made a custom 3 bay 9013 car. All together in one train they would be 55 feet long not including caboose or engines. Now where do I find a layout I can run this train on?
