MTH ITAD does not work

I wired my ITAD to my MTH Crossing signal lights.

- hooked it to my  transformer, under "variable" and it immediately started making its noise and the lights flashed without any motion.

- turned off power and hooked to "accessory" side of transformer and now I get nothing.  Tested signal lights by them selves and they work and sound device works,

but ITAD will not trigger the crossing signals to activate with motion.

Any Ideas?  Can you burn anything out in the ITAD?
