I was surprised to see the 4 pack of straight track at $19.99 which is competitive with hobby shop prices. I have thought about buying one of the leftover flat car with semi trailer but I'm low on $$. I have a yellow Menards semi tractor made for those trailers but no trailer. I got the tractor in the box for $3 at a used a bit shop.

I'm sure it is a different supply source - probably a firm that makes ceramic-style buildings.

... leftover flat cars with van trailers for $18, ...

Where and what were those? I went on their website and I couldn't find any such thing. It sounds like a great deal!

Ogaugeoverlord

I thought the cycle shop would be a great starting point for some repainting and decals to turn it into a small machine shop or some other small business. Woodland Scenics (and Menards) will have a hit with this one!

I think you right about that Bob,

I went to Menards today and they were sold out of all of their Woodland Scenics buildings but the Menards store and garden shop buildings.  They had all of the train sets but they were also out of train cars and the semi truck. Sad

Does Woodland Scenics make the Menards store and garden shop? They don't look like it to me.

I was in Menard's at Morris IL. last week and they had no trains out yet but I did see the Menard's Cycle Shop. Wow was it great and a good deal for $99.99   Very good detail on it and I want one for Christmass. Whistling

I will be going there today and will see what they have out. Huh?

Menards shipped me the CNW set, the Country Store, and a billboard that you'll see in a BTB coming soon. I was so pleased with the set that I'm going to review it in February's issue. It is neat that a chain store would jump into this with such enthusiasm!

My local Menards changed over several isles near the automotive isles to various toys about 2-3 weeks ago. New for this year is a "Menards only" CNW set with 0-8-0 steam engine and about 3-4 cars. It is set #6-30202 priced at $299. There is another Penn something set also with an 0-8-0, 2 cars and caboose. And last there is another steam set with a General type engine with either a Pepsi or Coke theme to it. Which brand it is, I forget. There are buildings, trees, people, figures, 4 packs of straight Fastrak for $19.99, leftover flat cars with van trailers for $18, other flat cars with van trailers for $29. Its not really a hobby shop but it is nice to see Lionel getting spread around to more places than the hobby shop. How about we start an email campaign for a DM&E diesel set for next year? SD40-2 with blue/yellow paint, a green CNW PS2CD hopper, flat car, box car and former DM&E president Sheifer at the steering wheel inside the cab of the locomotive?
