The MTH stock number will tell you what it was produced with, can you supply that?
If you want to know which version of ProtoSound it has look at the tender. Does it have a battery charging port? Open up the tender and look at the boards,

just bought on ebay a railking penslyvania 2-8-0 steam locomotive, the ebay description said it has proto sound, seller could not find any markings that would indicate what version of protosound the unit has. I went online and found a owners manual and it shows that it was produced with 2.0. I wondered if anyone would know if that unit was also produced with the first edition of proto sound and then not compatable with my remote units and not upgradable.
