You found yourself with an extra hour of free time to run trains.

Run the modern steam train, brother! STEAM RULES!
I'm going to self-define Thomas the Tank Engine as modern steam
Doug Murphy 'We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...' Henry V.
I voted for a Postwar Steam Train.. and it has to be an American Flyer with smoke and choo choo (in the boiler)! Preferably a nice consist like a 332 pulling a long string of passenger cars.. To me there is nothing like the synchronized choo choo sound and smoke. Now to me that's Postwar steam at it's best!
Lover of all things Gilbert, truly a man ahead of his time.
Only 8.9% say tinplate? I think in my case, I run trains for an hour every day.
I think I need a life

I may have OCD
I have a time table for operations on my layout, that tells me what order the trains shall be run and on what routes. I simply resume the schedule where I last left off. I have a mixture of postwar and modern engines and rolling stock, so what ever motive power is scheduled with a given train is what I run.
If I feel like being really daring, I run an "extra", but that only happens once every 5 years or so.
Hey, they are my trains and I' play with them by my rules, I hope you have as much fun playing by your rules.

VOTE FOR TINPLATE!!! (Maybe we'll got more articles!)
Trains, trains, wonderful trains. The more you get, the more you toot!
Anymore I run what ever is within reach.
But everything I run is in conventional mode at the present.

Postwar steam.
Nostalgia factor is too great.
I start giggling when I blow Lionel's old air whistle.
I should probably stop talking.
The Lehigh Valley Railroad, the Route of the Black Diamond Express, John Wilkes and Maple Leaf.
-Jake, modeling the Barclay, Towanda & Susquehanna.
My 5x12 test layout has loops of O27, S, and HO. All 3 have steam on them with an assortment of cars.
Enjoy
Paul
I voted for Postwar Diesel, but only because I just got my newly restored 2343 ABA back on the track last weekend. I must admit tho, my favorite runner of all is my 1999 700e with the rail chief cars. I just get all covered in goose bumps when I run that consist. True, my wife and kids all do say I need to get out more!
HEY BOB... how about some videos of your layout at home! Youre always talking about trying something out on it in your Train Box videos... so lets see it already!
I had to have the plumbing in my basement re-aligned in the process of having a new mound septic system installed in my backyard, so I had to take most of the layout apart. In you check the below video, you see some of the way it was BUT beware, this is from 2003 and the format we were using to make videos was awful. The file will probably download to your desktop as a wmv file.

I have hardly begun to re-work my layout (it was built on modules that I could re-arrange) and I am re-tracking with FasTrack. I did, however, get a loop running for testing. It isn't designed for beauty at this point, but I did a run-by for the review of the Lionel 4-12-2 that was just uploaded.

Absolutely. For me, it's either a 332 with a full set of 660 series aluminum passenger cars behind it, or one of my many 312 K5s with a set of red or green 650 series passenger cars.
