Is the whistling noise normal after the chuff sound (during certain speeds) or is something wrong with the unit?
Is there anything that can be done to correct this whistling noise?
That whislte could be a couple of harmless things. Here's waht I do during a smoke unit overhaul to prevent that sound:
1. Clean and polish the piston and cylinder wall with Neverdull. Never use anything abrasive. Apply a light film of vaseline to the cylinder wall.
2. Make sure the air holes in the end of the cylinder, baffle plate, and smoke chamber are clear. Remove any dirt from the area between the bafle plate and cylinder.
3. Oil the smoke lever where it connects at both ends and bewteen the stud and gear.
Hope this helps.
Jim,
Thanks for the advice...recleaned all the holes then applied Vaseline to the inside of the cylinder.
The smoke unit works great!
