forum owners: editing old posts - fail
Posted by overlandflyer on Thursday, August 16, 2012 10:02 PM

every time i've tried to edit an old post (before the change earlier this week) the reposted message has all the pictures deleted.

is there anyway to recover the old format posts?  it took me about 15 minutes to repair the recent bulk reformatting and repost a single message.

thanks a lot...gary

let me try to explain this further...

before:

<p><a href="http://home.comcast.net/%7Emarxtrains/trains/570-TrolleyCar-800.jpg" title="Click for original image size" target="_blank"><img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Emarxtrains/trains/570-TrolleyCar-800.jpg" alt="" style="border: none;" /></a></p>

after:

<p><img alt=" " border="0" /></p>

i do nothing but edit a message i posted before your software change and hit post.  even if i do not make a single change and simply hit "Post", the img line is modified to what i show.

could you please advise how to avoid this?
thank you...gary

Interesting. I tried it on a couple of my old postings and the photos were unaffected. Must be the different methods we use for posting photos. I use the IMG Code line from Photobucket.

as you can probably see, i host my own pictures, but i cannot see how 'where' it comes from could make a difference.  i posted the pictures into the messages inline using the default editor.  there were really no options.  click on the insert image icon, enter the URL, and enter.

what i cannot figure is how the img tag is changing without my making any changes(?)

i wish i could see what the post looked like before the software change.  the upgrade (sic) changed the format of all the previously posted messages, but i have no copy of those scripts.  i save some as drafts occasionally, but once it gets posted, i delete those.
