Lionel train molds
Posted by John Richardson on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 10:13 PM

Hi,

For anyone interested in looking, there are what is claimed to be some original Lionel train molds for sale on Craigslist in Denver. " Nine large molds and about a dozen small ones", to quote the ad.

Here is the link, to the listing http://denver.craigslist.org/clt/3203407042.html

You'd think for $7000 he would describe what the moulds are for and if they are in useable condition,

Might be worth the email just to satisfy my curoisty -  I'm guessing its MPC, or modern era tooling, If it' postwar stuff like the bakelite madison cars it would be a heck of a find!

I bet someone will buy them if they are legit original lionel... once a guy runs out of original boxes, catalogs, science kits and telegraph keys to collect he might as well collect parts of the factory or tooling,Wonder how he got hold of them, digrunteled past employee or storage warehouse find?

I believe the molds were purchased at Mizell Trains going-out-of-business sale/auction
