Inventory software
Posted by Rural Retreat on Monday, August 6, 2012 1:38 PM

New to the forum so sorry if this topic has been covered before. I would like to do a complete inventory of all my train related stuff, O Gauge old and new, books, G scale, live steam etc and would like to have it on my computer in a form that can be easily updated when I buy or sell something. Anyone care to share what they are using for this purpose. I am not quite computer savvy enough to create something like this on my own.

Thanks, Jay

i've never found anything better than Microsoft Excel for any sort of inventory task.  you never have to worry about learning a tailored program for every different task.  anything you can think of putting in a table form, Excel can do it as good as any program.  the upside is that even if you do switch to a specific database program later on, most will accept input from spreadsheet programs, so the work of entering data which is about 99% of an inventory program setup, won't have to be repeated.

Try  'DASH COLLECTORS CLUB'. It allowes you to do a complete inventory of your collection in just about every scale including "O' and "O27"
