Favorite 6464 Boxcars
Posted by Lehigh Valley 2089 on Friday, August 3, 2012 9:52 PM

Seeing how there are several 6464 boxcars, I got wondering what everyone's personal favorite is, and why.

Me? The 6464-150 MoPac car. The color and graphics are very appealing to my eyes, and the number of variations out there means that one could have a one-of-a-kind variation.

The Lehigh Valley Railroad, the Route of the Black Diamond Express, John Wilkes and Maple Leaf.

I like the B & O Timesaver  (-400). It's one of the more colorful ones, and doesn't usually cost a fortune.

Everyone else seems to like the same cars as me! My favorite is the -500 Timken, followed by the -400 Timesaver and -150 Mo Pac.

Hi Norman, They are super rare, I have only seen a couple over the past 30 years or so.

My favorite 6464 Box Car is 6464-50 Minneapolis & St. Louis Box Car. It came with my first train set that I received for Christmas, 1953.

My favorite is the green-orange Great Northern (I think it is 6464-475); exceptionally well decorated. I also like another non 6464 reefer car, built on the same chassis; the green railway express (65** somthing)._

The -475 is the Boston and Maine car. I believe you are refering to the -450 boxcar. And I agree, it is a well done car, just like the -150 a bit more. Smile
