I hope you can give me some advice. I am trying to install my new Legacy system on my layout and have reun into a problem. The instructions clearly show how you can hook up your TMCC Cab 1 to the legacy system so two operators can run trains at the same time, one on the Cab 1 and one using the Cab 2 controller that is part of the Legacy System. Also shown is a method for installing the Legacy System using a TCP.
The BAD news is that both the TCP and the TMCC base connect to the Legacy system using the same input plug (a DB9 Connector).
Can I use a WYE connector to plug both the TCP and the TMCC Base into the Legacy base? I don't want to do any damage to this before I get to use it.
Thank you much for any advice you can give.
You are correct, the Legacy came with a three headed cable that connects between the TMCC Command Base and the Legacy Command Base, and also has a serial connector for additional accessories. Did you use that?
The connection is just a Y connection, so if you don't have that cable, you can make one.
Thanks for the info. After I posted I found out that the cable end that the instructions say is to connect to a computer also will connect to the cable that used to connect the TCP to the TMCC Command base.
I'll give it a try and post the results.
Thanks for the help.
Greg
worked like a charm. So now I can still use the Cab1 and/or Cab 2 with all my post war lionel as well as the TMCC equiped K-Line Trainmasters. It just keeps getting better!
Now all I have to do is save my pennys for a legacy locomotive......
Thanks again for the information, it is folks like you in the hobby that are a great resource.
Glad we could assist.
