If you want a slick siding control, you can also put a switch in those pieces and break the line that joins the two center rail sides.  I've made a couple of those, they also have pilot lights.  Here's what one looks like, the pilot is the small 2mm yellow LED on the side of the rail.

P.S. If you read this Kent, I really like your small layout designs. They are something I have room for in my small house. Industrial mite has a lot of switching action to keep a small switcher busy. The three track yard forms an abbreviated Inglenook switching puzzle.

What is a 1.375 inch fitter (12000x)? Is that a fastrack part or does it require user modification? If modification necessary, what's the method? Thanks.
