Might anyone have a link or something to the service manual for the 623 switcher please and thank you?

Except for a few minor differences, the 623 is the same as the 622 so if you have info on that you're good to go.

This should help;

One more question about this particular engine. I picked it up at a show and the headlight (not the bulb itself)  needs replaced but seems to be glued or melted in there. Any tricks on getting it out without ruining the housing that surrounds and holds it in place?

There are a couple of ways to get that out. One is to push fairly hard at the back end and see if you can press it out. The other if glued in place, is to go buy some CA glue debonder and put that around the lens. Generally, it will remove it. Or, you can try a bit of fingernail polish remover. That should loosen the glue. Just don't get carried away as you don't want it leaking out onto the paint outside.
