Nice article by Odd-d in that "other " magazine.

I don't care what some people say about that "other" magazine. I actually thought that run 203 was one of their best recently. As I was going through the table of contents, a name caught my eye.

If you'll turn to page 92 please. There you will find a great article entitled Painting, Weathering and Lettering, written by the one and only Odd-d. This is a great how to article, and when I get a chance I plan to try it out myself, as I own a lot of those old Korber buildings which would lend themselves perfectly to these techniques.

If you don't have a copy of the magazine, get one! There is also a cool article about molding curved walls for buildings.[8D]

I'm dying to see it myself! My copy hasn't arrived yet. Even though I have been published in MR, Narrow Gauge Shortline Gazette, Lion Roars and Railmodel Journal it is always a thrill to see my stuff in print. I'm glad you liked it. I am working on some more. Odd-d

Gee Bob, I always thought that the people who had articles appearing in a publication got an advance copy of the magazine from the publisher. I guess you now have a gripe with Rich too. [:0][swg]

For the last 9 months, this forum has been my medium of choice. There isn't the glory or permanance of print, but it is a form of contribution after an 11 year absence. Winter is coming, and that temporary monument we call a layout is beckoning me to the dungeon. As work progresses, I'm sure I will have tales to tell, much like Dave Vergun has.[8D]

No gripes, Big Boy, I never got an advance copy from anybody; in fact the first I knew about one of my articles in Railmodel Journal was when I bought a copy and ran across it while perusing it. Although it has been about twenty years since my articles were published in MR, all I got was a royalty check with a note that by cashing the check I accepted payment for the materials submitted and I thereby relinquished all rights to the material including editorial rights to make additions, deletions or changes. But the checks are nice and it is gratifying to see my stuff in print....even if I did have to buy at least five copies from my own funds. Odd-d

I believe he authored a number of articles 30 or so years ago as well.

I have one of Bob's old ones in an old MR. Dave, you were published recently. I have had my layout featured, though I didn't do the writing. I'm sure if we did a little digging we would find a bunch more.

I almost made it onto a TV show once. And I was interviewed and quoted in a magazine article about 20 years ago.

I used to be a frequent user of the CompuServe CB simulator. Was invited on a TV show called "Familyi Computing." They did a segment on the CB simulator. One of their producers was also a CB user, and he invited me to be on the segment, along with 2 other people. Both of them women. We taped the segment (I actually wore makeup), got interviewed, and then we found out that they felt afterwards that the segment was too busy with 3 people. So they retaped it with only one of the women (who was actually affiliated wth CompuServe & sort of an unofficial spokesman). At the end of the show, the host still thanks me & the other woman who got cut for being on the show, even though we weren't in the final cut.

As for the magazine article, it appeared in some magazine aimed at college campuses. It was again about the CB simulator & the tendency for users to start up romantic relationships with each other. I ended up providing the "devil's advocate" side for the article, having just gotten out of a relationship with someone at the time of the interview.

Then, this past February, the local paper sent a reporter to a park near the Kensico Dam & I got interviewed for an article on the weather (we had a really cold winter & this was the first day in the 40s in weeks).

Nothing I've ever written has been published, except for manuals for programs I've written & such.
