Lionel 258 Number Plate Help
Posted by 68camaro_guy on Thursday, June 7, 2012 3:03 PM

I'm fixing up a late version of a Lionel 258, and the only part so far I haven't been able to find is the nickle plated  "258" plate that fits into the boiler front. I've looked on Olson's, Toy Train Restoration Products, and one other site (forgot the name of it) which i found by accident, and all 3 places just had parts for the earlier version. I've been browsing Ebay also, and no luck so far...I'm hoping i don't have to end up buying a parts locomotive just for a tiny plate. That may be my only option if i can find one cheap, and less complete.... Does anyone on here know where else i can look for one, or know anyone  who I can buy one from?  I hate seeing a rectangular hole on the front of the boiler where that plate should be, especially when the light shines through it..lol

Give George Tebolt a call. His website mentions the plate, but not which year it is for.

Thanks! I  think saw where it was listed, and that sounds like thats what I'll need to get! I'll ask him to be sure...he has some very reasonable prices on things too.
