I just tried this on a 1655 and it worked fine.  I did not see any modificaations that needed to be made.  If your problem is with the bronze spring that retains either the sliding shoe or roller assembly, the change will not help.

Lionel 1101 collector assembly replacement

Hi All,

I have an 1101 Steam engine with the slide shoe type collector assembly that is giving me fits.  I am thinking of replacing the assembly with the 229m-7 assembly with rollers, instead of doing a like for like replacement.  One of the parts suppliers has a notation about having to modify the 229 assembly to make it work.  Has anyone done this replacement, and if so, what has to be modified.
