The adapters aren't really needed - you can remove the pins from the Fastrack and use "O" pins with a UCS or RCS mated directly to adjoining Fastrack sections.

That's good to know that it was reccomended to use the tubular track. Lionel suggest if using the fastrack operating section that you have to cut it down to size. I figure the cars are too far from the platforms. I guess you have had no problems with this configurations.
Can't stop working on the railroad!
As Brent said, you will need 1 adapter track on either side of the 031 operating track. Recently I went to Trainland to buy a Fastrack operating track and they asked me if I was going to use it for postwar operating cars. When I told them yes, they recommended either using a postwar or new tubular operating track with the adapters. They have had a number of issues with postwar cars not working with the new fastrack section. I bought the adapters and used my postwar track successfully.
arkady What problems have you had?

I think, but I could be wrong, that the adapter section only works with the O31 tubular track. Other than that there should be no issues. You would need 2 adapters per operating track section - not sure it would be cost effective though... BUT I do know from first hand experience that the PostWar operating cars had issues with the new FasTrack operating track sections. I had issues with the coral car, milk car, and ore dump cars.
I recently changed over from tubular track to Lionel Fastrack. One thing I didn't account for was getting new operating track sections. Is it possible to use tubular to Fastrack adapter track with the tubular operating track section? Any help would be appreciated.
