Productive Day
Posted by Guitargeoff on Friday, April 27, 2012 7:37 PM

Had a great day tinkering...

Fixed the 601 and got it running, repaired the whistle on the Pennsy tender for the 637, cleaned and lubed the Santa Fe Alcos 212 and 8020, and came up with a simple system to close-couple the MPC era Milwaukee Rd. passenger cars.  Now the work table is covered with trains and debris...as it should be!

Now I am looking forward to a weekend of playing with the kids and trains!

Are these the baby madisons ? If so, what do you mean by close-couple ?

Have fun running the trains with the kids.

Yes I guess they are the baby madison cars, and with the stock couplers they are very far apart.  So I took some 14 gauge solid strand wire with a black insulation and linked the cars together semi-permanently.  But it also allowed me to hang some wire to look like hoses.  I am not going for a scale appearance, but it was somewhat out of necessity because one of the cars lacked couplers.  Once I "manufactured" some I liked the way it looked and made more for the others.
