I liked your review of the new American Flyer Challenger in the May issue.  However one thing you stated is " There are no crew figures (and I'm not sure how you could install them)." is not completely accurate.  After I picked up my two Challengers the first thing I did was make some seats and installed Arttista engineer and fireman in each locomotive.  I cut a passenger car seat in two added a side piece  to the cut area to level the seat out.  I painted and super glued the seats in place through the window.  After the glue was set I installed the figures. see photos.[View:http://cs.trains.com/TRCCS/themes/trc/utility/Photobucket:550:0]

I'm pretty sure I would have super glued them on their sides to the floor of the cab ...

The floor of the cab on the Challenger is raised on each side.  The seats I made fit this raised area and were super glued to the raised portion of the floor. I than super glued the figures to the seats.

I like the crew addition to the loco; got to get some for my engines.   There was a recent "I Love Toy Trains" program on RFDTV about the Union Pacific's 3985.  I think it weighs about 500 tons!
