Can someone, please, answer:
Are Weaver Models B.& O. Wagontop box cars of scale proportions, or are they slightly narrower, than they are supposed to be?
Thank you,
Ralph
The prototype loading gauge is 128 inches, which is 2 2/3 inches in 1/48 scale.

Ralph,They matchup nicely in height and width to William's Streamlined Passenger cars (the 18" ones). I will try and remember to take a few pics tonight and post them for your comparison.
Thank you Bob and Brent.
I appreciate both of your responses and info.

Brent,
I found out from Ed Bommer, who is familiar with the B&O RR., that the Weaver scale model wagon top box cars are indeed to 1:48 scale size proportions. The real car's outer most width, at the door frames and bow rib joints, are about 10ft., 4in. and the actual siding is narrower, than the door frames and rib joints, also the height of the cars were built higher for more loading, therefore causing the cars to appear narrower.
Ed Bommer is responsible for the accuracy of these beauties, as he was the technical advisor for Weaver, when the models were crafted.
So, these babies are 'RIGHT-ON' with all aspects of the actual real wagon tops.
