thx,and buddy told me to join and explain the issues i am now having...
Welcome to the forum!
It sounds like the insulating pins on your switches may be either missing, or in the wrong location. That would cause the coils to be energized constantly, and cause them to burn out. Look here for the instruction manual showing the proper location of the pins. Scroll down to page 4.
If your engines do not reverse with your transformer, it could be that the e-unit may be locked in one direction. Find the switch or lever, and move it to the opposite position and try reversing the engines again. If that still does not work, the reverse unit in the engine may be bad, or need servicing. What engines do you have? You may have either an electronic or mechanical unit, and service/repair is different for both types.

ok let me try the tracks.when i got them.pins was missing so i added..so let me take the 1 pin out and try it.thx
ok,got 1 switch track working good now.thx for info
the other one, still is not working, that be the one from the first switch track on that rail.to come back on the main.its not working.so the 2nd one to come back on main not working
but if i manuel switch it and i hit the button it moves it..idk
as for the engine i try it later and see what i can find out.thx for info,
I can't understand your last post. If your turnouts are not working properly even with the insulating pins in the proper locations, you may very well have melted the plastic forms that the coils are wound on, preventing the iron slug from moving freely through the hole inside them. If the damage is not too bad, you can fix it by running a drill through the hole.

ok out of the 5 engines i have
2 works
2 works but only 1 way
1 dont move at all

train 8902,this is my oldest one i have.does not move at all on the new transformer.any suggestions.also i need front wheels for this also
train 9053..works in 1 way, train 1645 works 1 way.i just got this 1.there is 2 switches under it also.this the one i been using now
the transformer i am using right now is model 6-4090
i also have 2 transformer model cw-80.but both do not work,i was told there was a fuse in it and that was bad,i tooked apart and seen no fuse.any help or suggestions on this also
i have been out of trains for 20 years and just got back into it so any help or suggestion be appreciated.thanks.
philly.what i hate, all my wires are same color.i tooked switches apart and cover off of switch track,,,everything fine....
lionel...everything still moving,if i move it manuel.and hit the switch,it moves back, only 1 of the switch tracks is doing that,,,but its not really effecting it if i go on the switch track or not..i get new video later on and post if i can not get it working good
Gothic,
There is a #8902 steam locomotive that is DC only, and will not work with an AC transformer, shown here. Did you have another transformer that you used with that locomotive? If so, it was a DC transformer. You can get this loco to work on AC power with the installation of either a bridge rectifier for one way running, or an electronic reverse board to allow you to reverse direction. The diagram has the part number for the front truck.
The instruction manual for the 1645 shown here, shows the 2 switches and their functions; one for the smoke unit, and the rear one for the reverse unit. Push the rear switch forward to unlock the reverse unit and allow sequencing the loco. Chance are, your other loco may be locked in forward also.
You got one switch to work now, but the other does not work properly. It sounds like you are saying if you manually switch the track to one position, it will move the rails, but not with the controller, and after you manually move the switch, the controller will then work switching it back to the original position. The controller only works in one position. Is that correct?
train,,,,the 1 switch track works both ways for the switch
but the other one ,the switch is not working unless i manuel then put it back to how it was with the switch
i will check them engines
the 8902...it will work on the orignal transformer i have but not working for this new one
engine 9053...still only going forward, wont go in reverse
engine 8902.still wont go at all on the new transformer, transformer 4090.i am running it on u-a.all other engines work on this...it works on its original transformer,i still have that..also.anyone know where i can get front wheels for it and the coal car connector piece at...
engine 8633...i need the front wheels for it,,
the aprts i brought other day,has an ac/dc converter
lionel 6-5900 to transformer
transformer cw-80.anyone know how to fix them or know whats wrong with them.supped to be an fuse in it,tooked it apart and seen none.i have 2 of them
other parts i have,i thin from the 1960's

watch?v=p5eFGj2pYKs&feature=youtu.be
if video dont work let me know...this is the issue i am having with the 1 switch track
The 8902 engine WILL NOT run on the new transformer because it is a DC locomotive. That is why it only works on the old transformer. To get it to work on the new transformer, you need to add an electronic reverse unit, part # 0103-100, a bracket, #8616-055, and switch, #3664-303 You may have to secure the switch with tape if the boiler shell does not have holes drilled and tapped for screws.
The front and rear trucks for the 8902 are available here. Part # 8040-015 and 8040-020.
Here is a photo of the parts for the 8633. The front truck assembly is part #8403-020. You can order it from the same company that has the other parts, as seen here.
It seems from your video that the one switch works with the anti-derailing feature when the train passes over it, but not with the controller. Try substituting another controller and see if it works. If it still does not work, then possibly one of the terminal lugs is not making contact inside the switch. Chances are the controller or wiring is at fault.
ok cool thx, will check that and get them parts order
and will look into the transformer stuff
as for the switch track,i try to switch the switches and see what happens
as for the other stuff i got posted, like the 2 transformer that dont work, and ac/dc convertor
and all that 1960 stuff i got...anything i can use
and for the uncoupler/unloader.is that the right wire to order for it
thx for your help so far, seems to be working what your saying.
also.how are people wiring in multi lockons,,i have a few and like to use some of them
ok good news
i got the other switch track working
put the good switch on,still nothing.so i started switching wires around and got it working
so both switch track works now, whoo whoo thx guys
now to order these few parts i need for engine and the 1 track
and hopefully see if i can get these transformers to work
and find out this 1960's stuff i got
